SIX months have passed since a stabbing in Northwich and still no one has been charged.

A large emergency service response, including an air ambulance, was called to Hartford railway station on July 28 last year following reports of a stabbing on a train.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was later released on bail.

That bail had been due to expire on January 28 but British Transport Police has now confirmed this has been extended until April 7.

It is understood that for now, 'enquiries are ongoing'.

BTP and other services were called to Hartford at around 4pm on July 28.

It followed reports that a man had been stabbed on a train travelling from Liverpool to Birmingham.

Cheshire Police officers also attended, with Chester Road closed for several hours.

The victim, a man in his 50s, received first aid assistance by paramedics from the North West Air Ambulance.

He was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries 'not thought to be life threatening'.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said at the time: "We were called at 4.05pm to respond to a police incident.

"An ambulance, advanced paramedic, a response vehicle and an air ambulance attended.

"One patient with serious injuries was airlifted to hospital, and another was taken by road."
