GREGGS in Winsford is set to double in size.

Winsford Cross Shopping Centre has confirmed that the popular bakery chain will move into a new unit next weekend. 

Centre manager Robi Gaine feels this move is a 'significant milestone' in the town’s ongoing regeneration and shows the confidence big-name brands have in Winsford.

He said: "We are thrilled to announce the relocation and expansion of Greggs within Winsford Cross Shopping Centre.

"This move not only reflects the growing demand for great value and quality options but also aligns with our vision of creating a vibrant retail destination that caters to the evolving needs of our patrons.

“We believe the expanded Greggs store will further enrich the shopping experience for our visitors and contribute to the ongoing revitalisation of Winsford's town centre."

It is understood Greggs will move into the unit formerly home to Shoe Zone on Saturday (May 4).

At 2,300 square feet, it is more than double the size of Greggs’ current premises in the town centre.

With this new expanded space, Greggs says it will be able to offer a wider selection of freshly baked goods.

The relocation comes as the Cheshire West and Chester Council-led regeneration of Winsford town centre kicks up a gear.

The £22.5 million project will see a new 168-space car park constructed along with new units for Costa Coffee and B&M.

It will also the creation of a new public square in front of Winsford Library which will host pop-ups and events and will become the new home of the town’s two war memorials, which are currently being refurbished.
